Mommy & Me classes
for 4 - 5.5 years old
in San Carlos studios
A class designed to expose young children to the art experience through a variety of
materials to stimulate visual awareness as well as hand-eye coordination. Classes will
include projects in clay, collage and painting, each section exploring a different theme.
Young children will learn simple shapes and how they represent objects. Then they will
create their favorite animals and characters from the simple geometrical shapes as they
expand the vocabulary.
Dear parents, you have a choice to stay in the studio and have an opportunity to see, draw and paint with your child, and help them discover that shapes can carry meaning, and more importantly, that they can create meaningful shapes them-selves.
It's amazing to see how the naive 'visual language' we find so charming develops as
their expression matches their developmental stages.
When a child begins to be interested in representing complex narratives, has good
fine motor control (drawing accurate shapes) and begins to express the desire to draw
how things look, then they are ready to begin learning to draw realistically.
